The competition "International Wine Awards" is organized and developed by Catavinum in Vitoria-Gasteiz (Spain).

The objectives of this contest are:

  • Inform consumers and professionals on the quality of the winning wines, helping to disseminate and communicate the same.
  • Bringing a message of guidance to 80% of consumers who expect international references on wine.
  • Favor the production and quality wines.
  • Help spread the culture of wine and reasonable consumption of this beverage with beneficial health qualities.


Article 1. The competition is open to all wines of the World: still, sparkling and spirits wines. Each contestant must complete the registration form for the data requested:

Identification of the contestant.

  • Full name of the wine.
  • Region of production.
  • Country of origin from which and in which it has been vinified and produced the product.
  • Year of harvest.
  • If you have been prepared and / or aged in contact with wood.
  • Product category: white, red, sparkling, or liqueur.
  • Recommended retail price in euro.


Article 2. Registration fees amount to 125 euros per winery, importer or participating company. VAT not included.

With this registration fee only, the winery or participating company may submit all wines/spirits it deems appropriate.

Registration payment can be made by credit card and by bank transfer.

Each participant will receive an invoice.


Article 3. You must send 3 bottles for each sample submitted to the contest. The bottles must be fully labeled in accordance with international rules, otherwise the samples will not participate in the contest.

Participating companies will send samples prior to juin 15, 2020.

Transport costs, customs duties and taxes for the consignor.

Recommendation for participants from outside the European Union: the wineries / businesses wishing to participate from outside the European Union, if they can, should send us the samples through an importer in the European Union to avoid delays in processing customs. If you have not importer, you can send the samples directly.


Article 6. The samples were presented for tasting in a package that allows the anonymity of the samples.

Article 7. The jury will consist of the Catavinuim tasting committee.


Article 8. The wines presented to the Competition will be assessed against the tab OIV / UIOE sensory analysis of wines in international competitions.

Article 9. In general, the wines will be tasted at the following temperatures:

White and rosé wines: 10-12 º C

Red Wines: 15-18 ° C

Sparkling wines: 8-10 º C

Spirits: 8-10 º C


Article 10. The rewards will be attributed (diplomas and medals) to wines according to the score obtained:

Grand Gold Medal: 95 to 100 points.

Gold Medal: 90 to 94 points.

Silver Medal: 85 to 89 points.

Bronze Medal: 80 to 84 points.

Article 11. The total number of distinctions should not exceed 30% of the number of samples entered in the Contest. Each distinction be accompanied by the certificate and which can be downloaded directly from the competition website.

Article 12. You can only use medal in wines rewarded and published on our website.
